As summer dwindles down, the kids start getting ready to go back to school, and that carefree spirit begins to fade we decided now’s a good time to give everyone a lil boost! And what is a better way to do so than with fresh and healthy goods from the Marin Farmers Market! Approaching their thirtieth birthday the coordinators of the Famer’s Market, the Agricultural Institute of Marin (AIM) are making bigger and better strides each year. In the early 1980s, when the market was just putting down roots, there were very few Marin farmers actually participating. Despite our county's rich agricultural heritage, the early years of the Marin Farmers Markets were built on the backs of hard working farmers from other California counties. OUTSIDE LANDS 2012!

The sold out event of the summer is upon us! Outside Lands 2012 will commence tomorrow, Friday August 10, with a rock star line up continuing for the rest of the weekend. The young people of the Bay Area are brimming with anticipation as the much-awaited weekend arrives. This year is the first time Outside Lands has ever sold out before hand. Although this event does attract a younger crowd, there is more than enough room and pleasures for the young at heart as well! With Stevie Wonder and Neil Young headlining, the plethora of fine food and wine stands, and the California sunshine showing off,…

The San Francisco Bay is a very special place to be lucky enough to live. Growing up here is a privilege, and as I’m sure many of you can agree, this environment effectively shapes us. Living by the bay and being in presence of water daily has been quite the impact for many our 2012 London Olympians. Of the 530 United States Olympians, 125 of the hail from California, while another 71 of them call the Bay Area home. Our entire badminton team is from California, although we only boast one gymnast from the Bay. Interestingly, the San Francisco Bay Area Olympians flock to water like ducks - an unscientific examination shows that most of them are rowers, swimmers, water polo players, or other water-sports athletes. San Jose native Scott Welt, who swam for…

To Buy or To Rent? That is the Question.

After the economic downturn of 2008 many people were far too nervous about the depreciation of realty that buying was out of the question. Over the past year (2012) alone rents around the nation have risen 5%. The survey was Zillow’s first buy-versus-rent analysis, incorporating all homeownership costs, including down…
